Altieri designed engineering systems for the full scope of the new building including two theaters, dance performance studios, rehearsal rooms, performance support spaces, music and drama classrooms, library, lobby, and faculty offices. Our work applied building technologies that exceeded the latest energy codes and design standards, while meeting strict noise criteria within all performance spaces, and consisted of central heat pump air handling units and VRF heat pumps coupled to closed-loop geothermal system. The implemented mechanical systems, together with efficient lighting, resulted in calculated reduction of annual energy cost of 35%. Altieri’s considerable strength coordinating with design team’s members was paramount on this project which included consultants for theatrical lighting, A/V, acoustics, industrial hygiene, and geothermal well field.
